From the Story, The River Mermaid
The River
Vermilion, citrine, and violet cliffs
Sculptured by my fingertips
Fifteen million years of art
The work of my heart
Pure and clear I flow
With love human beings do not know
Receptive, yielding in ways that defy the mind
Both within and outside of time
My essence is to be free
Even should I unite with another in ecstasy
Who can see this?
In the thin mist
Hovering above the water at dawn
My moisture on your skin
I sing to you my song
Enter me
Her waves surround me
She whispers to me
Let go,
Feel the moment flow
The water curls, swirling
The current rises, strengthening
I gaze into her eyes
Ages and eons go by
She says,
The love you feel heals
In me the ancient loneliness
That haunts the human soul
No longer takes hold
We shall be as one
As the sun and moon delight
In sharing each others light
As day and night
Share the same sky
At dawn and twilight
They wait to embrace
In your eyes
Though I am a river flowing forever
I will always treasure
That you have become my friend and lover
